Superdrome - 5/9/01

The Superdrome is owned by the City of Frisco. It is a 250 meter track and has bank angles of 44 degrees. This is steeper than the olympic standard of 42 degrees. Cyclists must maintain 17 mph to keep from falling off. The corners are 8 meters (about 24 ft) tall. The rails The wide light blue line designates the edge of the track. From this line, there are three other lines - black, red and blue. The rails on the straightaways are as tall as the blue line in the corners. Vertical lines denote start and end lines for various events. It's fairly scary to be up at the blue line with people passing below you with their heads about the level of your wheels.

The track draws all kinds of world and olympic class riders. In photo 8, the woman in the blue outfit is Jenna (?), the 4th place sprinter in the world. We got to watch her do motorpace, doing 40mph drafting behind the track motorcycle. She passed the motorcycle doing about 43mph.
